Default So I've got this thing for wet candles...

Hey there fellow scaley friends! So I'm starting up a Blindwater list, and I've got my sights set on Maelok. Besides absolutely loving his fluff, his high armored tanky style is reminiscent of pThagrosh(my very first caster). Always wanted a gator list, but Gator Jesus and Calaban never really grabbed me the way he does.

A while back a friend of mine proposed we go 50/50 on two squads of gatormen since we can both use them, and added to some of his existing collection I've got a decent head start.

    So here's what I'm thinking at 35:

    Maelok the Dreadbound +6
    - Blackhide Wrastler 9
    - Bull Snapper 3
    - Swamp Horror 8

    Min. Bog Trogs 5 (have)
    Feralgeist 1 (have)
    Full Gatorman Posse 9 (have)
Gatorman Witch Doctor 3 (converted, but have)
    Swamp Gobbers 1 (have)
    Victor Pendrake 2

Thoughts on the list? I tried to make it pretty diverse, but this is Blindwater so no real ranged threat to mention. I'm trying to keep this pure gators so I'd rather not grab any Farrow to fill in.

Speaking of which, I keep hearing that PP is moving towards separating the two Minion pacts, and with much glee. But as both "factions" progress, one of the major speed bumps still remains: Other factions can take Minion units. This seems like an obstacle to Blindwater or Thornfall getting any star studded options, because if they were too good I could just run them next to some Dragonspawn and call it a day. So how do you think this will work, some Minion-only units, maybe lots of Faction specific buffs? With Domination's release, the latter seems more likely.

So any ideas of the future of Blindwater? Will my gators be munching gunmages and carax with success for years to come? Will the battle engine be a giant tentacle beast who's appetite for inappropriate comedy outgrew Japan?

The only Farrow models Blindwater can take are Bone Grinders in Calaban's tier. You can't mix-and-match.

As far as your list goes, it feels like you are handicapping yourself by not taking 2 max units of Gators with Maelok.

So I hear, this list was made in some iBodger idle time before I did a lot of forum dredging.

What are Maelok's favorite beasts? Ironback Spitter for ranged? Blackhide Wrastler for armor cracking? I really like the Swamp Horror so I'm always trying to sneak it in there. That beak is tempting too, but if I rely on that vs arm I'll probably have some issues against battle engines and the likes of Terminus.

Is the bone swarm even worth it? How's it been performing?

I think the horror and the wrastler are good beasts for him. It's always good to have a heavy hitter in the wrastler, and being able to hand reach to various models can help the assassination feat turn.

Boneswarm is fine. It's nice to be able to grab a soul or two before popping the feat to give you a very tough 4 point model. Not necessary though.

Just had a tourney yesterday where I used maelok and barnabus.
My maelok list had 1 max posse and 3 bone swarms, a wrastler, thrulg, and totem hunter.

Did really well and I utilized 2 swarms to keep their animus up around the posse to really mess with my opponents. Would another posse been worth it? Eh not in my eyes. Each game I revived a gator a turn and a 5 man unit was more like an 8-9 man unit!
