An odd question...

So I was at the shop talking with some people when an odd question was asked. As a Minion player, I was wondering, can I play "Skorne" as my faction, then bring my normal gator list as every model/unit/warlock in the Minion book will work for Skorne along with models from the Skorne faction? We looked through the rulebook but didn't specifically see anything saying you couldn't do this. If the rules say I can't can you please direct me towards the page in the rulebook so I can pass it along to my friends at the shop.

I'm unsure what you mean by the question. Do you mean:

A) Take a "Skorne" list, with a minion Warlock.
or
B) Take a Skorne list with a very Minion friendly 'lock, such as Hexeris.

I don't have access to my rulebooks at the moment, so I can't quote pages, but no. You can't field an army that's lead by Carver and made up of all Farrow and have it count as a Skorne army, it would have to be a Thornfall Pact or The Golden Horde army. You could take Morghoul and his battlegroup and then have the entire rest of the army made up of Minions and it would be a Skorne army though. The only way to take the Minion Warlocks in a main faction army is to be playing a game with 2 Warlocks.

So even though Barnabas, for exmaple can be hired by Skorne, I can not use him as my only warlock? The idea was to bring Painbringer taskmasters with my gatormen. Since "Skorne" would be my faction but I'm hiring a Minion warlock to lead it. Whenever you get a chance for a page number on the ruling I'd realy appreciate it. Thanks for the speedy replies.

You can only use are minion warlocks in a 2 warlock game with their ally factions. So no calling Carver or Barnabus a skorne caster and picking out of faction models.

The Primal MKII rules states, that a army led by only Minion-warlocks is a minion-army. Pretty much before the trollbloods.

Still wouldn't work... all the Paingiver abilities are friendly faction.

Well you can purchase all the minions you want, buy a skorne caster a few titans and the taskmaster.

I was kinda thinking of doing something similar with circle. Buy the intersting parts (ie casters and beasts) the unique essentials (the support stuff minions doesnt have) fill in the rest with gators and pigs. Gives you something differnt to play in casual. Then repeat when the faction ADD hits.
