I'll be getting the full set. Now I just need to dicide between an Ipad or Android tablet. I'm kinda split on it. The New Ipad looks awesome, but an Android gets around some of the limitations of IOS, like no flash and java. Any Ideas?

For $200, it's hard to beat a rooted Kindle Fire with CyanogenMOD7.

Also, Asus is putting out a 7" Tegra 3 tablet sometime during this quarter for $250 with ICS. I'm thinking about upgrading to it when it comes off and passing the Kindle Fire to my wife...

There are also more accessories for ipad; generally, but there are fewer choices between actual devices (clearly) and the development of Android seems to have more momentum than the forward development of IOS as android seems to do a good job of implementing improvements from popular mods for example [it is arguable that it had more room for improvement in the first place]. ICS / droid 4 is an amazing improvement with a much better design and interface overall which imho compares well with IOS.

I have a Transformer Prime and love the device, but then again I get good use of the keyboard dock and have not had many of the other problems that seem to plague others. Asus seems to be doing quite a bit of useful innovation in the tablet market such as with the transformer and the phone pad.

You could root a nook color for 100 and beat said kindle fire by doing the exact same thing for 100 dollars less?

lol and the new ipad 2s. Which gizmodo has affectionately named "deborah" since apple didnt want to name it.

My guess as to why we don't have any solid release date for the app is because they don't know for certain when it will finish making it's way through Apple's 'certification check', and finally be available on their web store. Once that goes through, we'll probably see it officially released rather quickly.

Who cares? Android doesn't have to go through some ****ty process that doesn't even do anything. Release it already!

In theory apple check the app for how good it is and if it can be abused in any way shape or form. I say #$#@#$ the applelovers and release it for android already!!!

Yes in theory. They only check if there is a virus really. I mean, recently this fake Pokemon app made it through, this just shows how bad their process is. Working for a software company too that makes apps taught me that it is just in place for them to show you "who is the boss". There is very little actual review going on.

I think the problem must be with the Android port of the app, screw Android, just go single platform, release for iOS already!

In reality, while I love my iPhone, I am looking forward to that $250 Asus 7" tablet.

Pretty much everyone is switching from Flash to HTML5, anyway.

I wonder... is PP going to have to give Apple a cut from the In-App Purchase? There was some hullabaloo about that a while ago... it is why Amazon made the whole web Kindle, so they wouldn't have to give Apple a cut.

Apple and Android/Kindle have nothing to do with each other. In app purchases go fully to the developer, that's why it is becoming more common. Cutting out the middle man.

Purchases can be made outside the app, but they have to be offered for the same price in the app as well. Apple gets their 30% on all sales that go through Apple, which is all sales using the in app purchase mechanism.

If we're buying decks outside of iTunes, then I imagine that PP also has to create and manage a payment/delivery portal. If they're not utilizing the app stores, it's probably a fair amount of infrastructure that had to be created.

I hope war room lets me purchase in-app, I have a bunch of iTunes credits to use! I hope they don't get greedy and make it a ten times more complicated cross-platform payment nightmare. I just want my War Room and all my faction decks!

Browsers don't use Flash... websites do. HUGE difference. All major browsers support HTML5.
If you mean IE, then you are mistaken. Microsoft is actually a big player in the development of HTML5. HTML5 is also not a complete spec yet and those close to the project anticipate 2017 to 2022 for a completion date. The reason that IE9 apears behind all of the rest is because they seem to incorporate the completed elements of HTML5. All other browsers have major problems because when the html5 spec changes, they have to release a new version of their browser.

As far as this app is concerned... I cant wait!!!

Im well aware, i design websites. What I meant was that most people only get a new browser when their computer dies, and if your site relies on HTML5 functionality to run, you either have to spend time making it work with IE 7&8, or just scrap the idea and use jQuery or flash for the same effect. Unless your force people to upgrade their browser it will be probably 10 years before you can fully use HTML5 on a website designed for the general public.

It hasnt been that long since IE6 was killed enough in North America that people stopped asking "it works, but how does it look in IE6..."

Yeah, our organization just decided to stop supporting IE7 and FireFox 3x. It was a day filled with weeping for joy. I'm probably more excited about JQuery mobile and CSS3. BUT...I can't wait to start using the canvas element!
Hopefully as more browsers turn towards a running release, we will only need to support the most recent versions.

Anyway, enough talking shop! We should be playing some Warmahordes with an AWESOME app at our side.

I'm jonesing bad for this App. I cannot wait to mark my first damage on a card that pops up from an army list I "wrote" on the fly in a few seconds by clicking on card thumbnails till I ran out of points.

Although the first tournament i will be able to use it over here will still require us to bring the cards even if we use warroom. No idea why. Must be to appease the naysayers in some way.
50 pts Tier 4 Ravens of War - 32 pts remaining
    50 pts Tier 4 Black Magic - 30 pts + B&B remaining
    35 pts Tier 4 Rearguard - 8 pts remaining

Most likely because a lot of people have been apprehensive about battery life, technological issues, etc. I expect a lot of TOs are likely to want people to have cards as well for a bit until the app has proven to be relatively bug free, ways to mitigate the other problems with the technology, etc. Basically, make sure everything works as advertised before letting people really let go of the cards.

Personally, I would want everyone to always have cards as a backup should their device fail. Though if they have it, they can certainly use it regardless of what their opponent says.

For love. For honor. For Devilsquid.

That seems like a good reason and a good approach. It is no skin off my back to bring cards with me too, unless I want to play more copies of a model than I have the card for, which I have in a few instances due to the numbers of cards in the Mk2 faction card packs.

I'll leave my cards In my car just in case. I certainly don't want to deal with them ever again once this app is out. There are few things more tedious than shuffling through your deck and taking cards in and out of plastic sleeves. Having to go through the motions of creating a list with your physical cards, even as a contingency, kind of misses the point of this app. Tournaments are few and far between for most people anyway, so battery life and technical issues really aren't a big deal. For the events that I run, I won't be making any kind of requirement that anyone bring backup cards, though if someones phone breaks during a game and it takes longer than five minutes to fix it and they don't have backup cards, I'll count that as a loss.

Rule for next tournament setup: Make sure every table has the possiblility to plug in 2 phones/tablets/etc

I will see if I can get the app to work on my laptop using an android emulator. I trust laptops (although bigger) more for batterylife and not chrashing. (couple bad experiences recently...)
