    Default Trample and Incorporeal

I was reading some threads on being Incorporeal and Trampling (here and here).

One of the things that came up was the idea of trampling over a med/large based incorp model, but then taking a free strike from said model. I'm a bit confused, as per p56 of Primal:

Models contacted cannot make free strikes against the trampling model...
Is the incorporeal model not contacted? What am I missing that would allow a free strike?

As per page 46 of prime, the incoporeal model is indeed contacted. I don't think it would get a free strike.

Note, also, that valandar was not an Infernal when he posted in the first thread you linked, so his statements are his opinion, not rulings.

Contacted models to not get free strikes - and trampling through models does appear to contact them.

So can you trample through a med or large based model if it's incorporeal?

I believe TheUnknownMercenary was an Infernal at the time that that was written: http://privateerpressforums.com/show...l=1#post849006

If Model A is trampling and Model B is incorporeal, Model B's ability is giving Model A the ability to move through Model B (subject to the usual terms and conditions).

EDIT: Never mind. Solkan has the link.

Yes, you can trample through a medium or larger incorporeal model, but it does not get a free strike, because it was contacted.

But you are NOT trampling the medium or large base. You are merely moving through them. TUM's post says nothing about ignoring freestrikes.

It does, however, say "when it contacts them." (Emphasis mine, all mine!) Ergo, no free strikes.

    Well I never...
I would argue that some more but against an Infernal that would be a waste of time. Thanks for clarifying.

The key elements (above and beyond Valander saying so) is that page 46 says that even if a model can move through another model it still contacts them, and trample says a contacted model doesn't make a free strike.

And the rules on p. 46 is why TUM said what he did.
