Not if they touch everything they're passing over.

I don't expect tramples to come up very often with Colossals. It's already hard enough fitting a large base completely past whatever you are trampling over, a huge base would be considerably harder. Plus, they all seem to have a fair bit of anti-infantry built-in anyway, it's not like warjacks where you might just have one big non-reach weapon that's completely inefficient at killing infantry. People might use tramples for other reasons (if you can shoot your guns afterward for example, using it instead of a run), but for actual troop squishing I doubt it will work.

It is kind of a shame that tramples didn't get expanded to at least medium base troopers though, even if it wouldn't be useful 99% of the time it would be pretty cool for the other 1%.

Well these things are probably like base STR 14 or something, and a Trample's POW is just flat STR isn't it? The warjacks would easily survive any POW 14 and then get their free strike.

Surviving models still get free strikes, right? I haven't seen a trample attack used in like... 8 months or more.

Models that the trampling model's base passes over don't get to make free strikes, even if they survive.

No, you only get a free strike if you the trampling model didn't pass over your base.

I wonder if it's something to do with just not uprooting medium bases' function of trample blockers, but that seems pretty small. I think it'd be far cooler to be able to trample over medium bases, and besides it would be hard to set up, like jandrese said.

Ah. Never had something trample my IFP and survive before anyway.

Thinking about the possible mechanics of the Colossals some more. The big gun up top on all of them could have an AoE and high POW, but also this rule:
Artillery This attack does not target, instead choose a point anywhere within this weapon's RNG and in this model's front arc. The attack deviates normally from this spot.

Tactical tip: As there is no target, the maximum deviation is 1/2 the RNG of the weapon.

Hint: all of the guns will have >= 12" RNG

I predict Colossals will waste 2-3 pages of the latest NQ.

Eh, it gave you higher quality versions of the art so you can scrutinize the tiny details. Sure the text didn't say anything useful, but look at that art.

    No art for Hyperion, though.

I'd rather have 2-3 pages of Colossal art and then the one paragraph of new info than a transcript of the Colossals video or an interview that literally doesn't tell us anything that isn't on the website. Most disappointing issue of NQ ever.

"when did you guys start on Colossals?"
"we had ideas back in superiority remember? we said so in the video"
"oh ok so what was cool about making the models?"
"articulated pistons ( not even sure what that means ) like I said in the video"
"uh... anything new you can tell us"
    "LOLNOPE"

The only thing worse than that in the magazine was an incomplete list of the faction alliance pairings. Like, seriously? I'm not even one to usually rag on NQ. I love it and bought it as soon as I could, but I can't help but think it was the most quickly put together issue yet.

All they had for the preview was a render back then too. Hopefully his art is taking extra time because it's extra super awesome.
