Ok, this came up recently. If a unit, or part of a unit is engaging another model/unit, are they able to break from combat to charge something else?

Being engaged in close combat places no additional restrictions on a model's ability to charge, or even just advance.

Things like free strikes and physical orientation of models are likely to complicate matters, though.

always. but don't 4get to suffer the effects of Freestrikes from whoever u are already engaging.

What if I break from combat while in their back arc? This is actually what happened.

edit @solkan- checked out those links- cheers. I had run a few searches but hadn't found anything specific about charging from combat. Your search fu is strong.

Then you're not in their melee range, therefore you don't leave it, therefore you don't trigger a free strike.
