Looking at a new card and the halberdiers have no health boxes. Any idea why that would be? Are they single hit point models?

Yes they are only single hit point models.

ok so then silly follow up to this question, can a model with no health boxes still be boxed? Or in otherwords say a dire troll kills a halberdier, can he snack on him? Does the box effect happen still?

Yes. Even though the card doesn't show any boxes, every model still has 1 box so the troll would still get to snack on it. That is, so long as the boxed model fits the requirements of snacking.

Becoming Boxed has nothing to do with a model having more than one wound. It's simply the step in damage resolution that comes after Disabled.

All trooper models have, unless otherwise stated on the stat card, only one hit point/damage box. These were not added to the stat cards, because it would just be unnecessary bookkeeping that would slow down the game. It also prevents discrepancies as to which model from the unit just went kaput...
