So I pop Madrak1's feat, and charge in with the Fennblades. One of them attacks the Exemplar Errants, who have self-sacrifice. My opponent choices to have the model attacked live, and sacrifices another model in the unit which is also within Madrak1's control area.

My understanding is I killed a model as a result of a melee attack, and the model that died is within Madrak1's control area. Therefore I would gain the ability of the feat, and the attacking model could attack again.

Is this the correct interpretation?

I'm afarid not the errant is killed by self sacrifice not a melee attack made by a friendly faction model (in this case the fennblade) so no extra attack and overtake.

This is correct.
