It's time for the Triangle Gunbunnies (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/TriangleWM) to host our 4th Annual Foodmachine Tournament!

WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 19th. Be there by 11:00 am sharp.

WHERE: The Game Connection (http://www.thegameconnection.com), Knightdale, NC (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=6727+Knightdale+Blvd,+Knightdale,+NC&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=31.839416,56.513672&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=6727+Knightdale+Blvd,+Knightdale,+Wake,+Nort h+Carolina+27610&ll=35.798097,-78.503602&spn=0.007954,0.013797&z=16)

COST: Minimum 3 cans of food, no maximum (see below)

FORMAT: This will be a Mk II tournament for Warmachine AND Hordes. There will be 3 or 4 rounds, depending on turnout. We're doing this as an escalating tournament. In other words, each round of the tournament will use a larger army than the one before it. The first round will be 25 points, the second 35, the third 50, and the fourth round, if necessary, 75 points. Whatever you use in one round, you must use in the next round. Thus, for the second round, your 35 point army will consist of your 25 point army plus up to 10 points worth of more figures, and so on. Turns will be timed - players will get from 7 to 15 minutes per turn, depending on the army size. Yes, you can use epics, and yes, you can use infantry/solos at 25 points.

SCENARIO: The scenario we will be using is scenario 4 from Steamroller 4 - Destruction. Each player will have two ~2" diameter objectives on the table. Players will aim to destroy their opponent's objectives while keeping their own safe. First player to destroy both enemy objectives or kill the opposing caster wins. Full details can be found in the Steamroller 4 pdf document.

DONATIONS: Each donated canned good weighing at least 10 oz. is worth one ticket. Tickets can be redeemed for in-game effects, as listed on page 9 of the official Foodmachine pdf (http://harvest.gamestlouis.com/downloads/thrall-harvest-packet.pdf) packet. Last year, the food pantry noted that meat products are generally needed more than other canned goods, and such products were worth more tickets. We will be doing something similar this year. Canned goods that are primarily meat products will be worth 1.5 tickets, rounded up. Thus, three cans of vienna sausages add up to 4.5 tickets, and you will be given 5. Since meat products tend to come in cans smaller than 10 oz, I will be accepting such products at a 2-for-1 rate for anything between 5 oz. and 9.999 oz. In other words, two cans of meat products between 5 and 9.999 oz will count as one 10 oz can of meat product. If you have any questions regarding the ticket value of a certain canned good, feel free to ask.

PRIZES: As always, this year's champion will be taking home our Foodmachine Trophy. Given the recent release of the Hordes Mk II rules, it seemed only appropriate to use the most feared beast in all of Hordes:

Pictures of previous years' trophies are also available if y'all want to see 'em. We will also have Steamroller coins for first, second, and third place winners, and the certificates that go with them. There will also be the treasure chest, from which we will be giving out prizes at random during the tournament.

I also have three other prizes to give away - an autographed Warmachine/Hordes poster (I'm not sure which yet, as it hasn't arrived), a $25 gift certificate to The Game Connection, and an autographed copy of Prime: Remix. How can you get your hands on these fantastic prizes, you ask? Simple. DONATE. In previous years, we had a prize for whomever donated the most canned goods. This year, since we have three prizes, it will take the form of a raffle. Every ticket you acquire through the donation of canned goods is a chance to win one of these prizes. So the more you donate, the better your odds of winning.

Last year we collected close to 700 cans of food. If we get over 1000 cans of food donated this year, I'll add a second autographed posted to the prize "raffle."

Remember: donate early, donate often. Hope y'all can make it!

do you know how long it would take to drive from atlanta up to where this tournament is? It sounds like fun. How many people are you expecting?

Sorry for the late-ish response, Over.d0se. I'm currently on vacation out of the country and internet access hasn't been the easiest to come by. Google Maps says it's roughly 6 and a half hours from Atlanta to Knightdale, NC.

We're currently expecting 18 to 20 players, hopefully more. We'd love for you (and whatever posse you can muster!) to come up! There's also been some interest from our "sister" group in Virginia, so maybe this will turn into a multi-state shindig!
