You can sign up for the beta here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1kzfsS8SMfL5WgyqysFuKVU7BERfu6eFhfVJUEoVcC3I/viewform). We will send download instructions and beta related messages to the emails provided.

We're shooting for getting people in in the next couple weeks. We're finishing internal testing and some final feature polish now.
Once the beta is live, we will post the latest links and release notes in sticky threads in this beta forum.
The initial test will be for tablets only. We will test handheld device support later in the public beta.
The initial test will be for Card Library, Reference, and Army Creation only. We will Single and Multiplayer support later in the public beta.
Account creation will not be supported in the beta yet. You must have a valid account created in the store version of the app. We may test account creation later in the public beta.
You will only have access to content you've purchased in the store version of the app. There will be no store to purchase any content in the beta. We may test content purchase later in the public beta.

FAQ:
What about <insert feature blah> - Privateer has a communication schedule about what features we'll be highlighting and when. What I'll say now is we've worked hard to address community requests. I may not be able to answer all questions about all features immediately, but we'll be communicating more soon.

What have you changed? - We've rebuilt War Room from the ground up to be faster, more efficient and more stable.

Can I test on my Kindle device? - If you have Kindle tablet devices you can test with them. Sign up as an Android tester and you'll be able to side load the apk's we link to. It's worth noting that very old Kindle hardware may not run well, or they may not meet the minimum OS requirements. You're welcome to test and tell us though.

Is there any way to Beta test on the kindle fire? I don't see it as an option, but I can understand if something about Amazon makes it unworkable.

Yes, it's an Android device and as such you can side load the apk onto it. I'll update the post.

ugh I just submitted it as handheld only... is there any way to update my application (I thought Kindle was different then Android)?

It won't matter for Android, you'll get a beta install link and you can install it on whatever Android devices.

Thanks all. Look at results is turned off. For those of you concerned, it was Name and Email provided and preferred devices to the form that was briefly shown. No other information.

Go ahead and sign up, nothing will prevent you from doing that and getting links to the builds. We'll link builds that will work with earlier OS versions, but we need to see how the behave before we guarantee them.

What device and OS version do you have?

We'll get some testing in back to OS 4 to see how they do. The problem with those older OS versions is they mean older, less standardized hardware in our supported spread so you have very little quality control that's reliable. It's a support nightmare.

We'll see though.

Will there be a separate bug tracker in place or will the forum thread be used?

When can we expect to get numbers for the IOS beta? Given my time zone I'm not hopeful, but would love to know if the 500 limit was hit in minutes or hours?

Damn, seems like my iPad 1 will not be supported in the beta. I suppose the iOS minimum requirement is not going to change after the beta?

Soooo... I signed up. I was one of the Beta testers for the first release. Just a word of caution. THG has the app designed (I'm pretty sure). I wouldn't go in to this thinking that just because you have an idea, that it can be argued in to implementation. If it's like it was before it'll be to see if X functions like X or do I end up with A instead. I wouldn't get too wrapped up in opinions of what is/is not a good feature. They were open to discussion the first go around so I'm sure any reasonable discourse will be accepted at face value.

Honestly, I think THG is taking a brave step here. They've taken a fair bit of harsh criticism over War Room and to invite the community in during BETA for the next version rather than select some quietly shows their good faith IMHO.

Good faith? I agree. Brave? I don't know. I think that "wise" is probably the correct word. With an open beta, the likelihood of "getting it right" is much higher. In any event, I find it encouraging and I have high hopes for War Room 2.0.

I'm gonna go ahead and go with "essential" with a release of this scope.

We've seen what happens even with releases smaller than this in the past. And no one wants to recreate the mistakes of the past. Fortunately (if you want a silver lining), those past... challenges... have given us the ammo to get everyone on board with the public beta for this release. I'm very hopeful that we're going to come out of this process with a tool that we're all significantly happier with.

I like this attitude Lane, and I hope that you are able to maintain this level of transparency going forward. I know that contractual and other concerns can sometimes dictate what can and cannot be shared, but I think you'll continue to find that the majority of users/players are excited for a new, more functional War Room; when we are kept in the loop, we are happier.

Have also signed up but waiting for email. Possibly because I only signed up for Android handheld, and handheld was noted as starting later, but I am curious when I might actually get in on the beta. Would like to make silly Haley3 lists.

They noted that the email would go out "in the coming weeks" so those might not be sent out. They are wrapping up internal testing first.

Usability is something I'd love to test thoroughly, since I can't stand it when software doesn't work as (logically) expected...
...and I like War Room too much to delete it from my TabS and iphone5

I think patience is still required.

I reckon it will be hard not to know when it's released, regardless of whether you're in or out ;)

So now that the Beta testing is over, and the finished product is top notch with the invaluable help of the beta testers, do we get a free card bundle or something? :p
