I was honestly curious about this, I've always taken it at face value that it can't be done but Black Gate the Feat with Scaverous states that he reduces the cost of his spells by 1 and increases enemy cost spells by one. Lets assume one scaverous fights Denegrah 1. If you did the feat is your Skarlock thrall able to place a Feast of worms which was cost 4 to a cost 3? or does it work on base cost of spell? Additionally if the enemy was affected is his Skarlock thrall still able to cast Ghost walk which was orginally a 3 cost spell but becomes 4?

Black Gate doesn't affect Spell Slave as it works off of the printed COST of the spell. It merely modifies the amount of focus paid to cast, which in the case of the Skarlock is nothing since it's just a special action. So no, Skarlock Thrall can't cast Feat of Worms, amazing though it may be, and it doesn't prevent an opposing Skarlock Thrall from casting Ghost Walk.

Short 'n' sweet thread related to a Skarlock and Arcane Wonder. (https://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?221810-Spell-slave-Arcane-Wonder-interactions&highlight=black+gate+skarlock)

More related and longer thread (linked to the final declaration) about Black Gate and Geomancy, which is basically identical to Spell Slave. (https://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?68440-Scaverous-Feat-Black-Gate-and-Geomancy&p=945369&viewfull=1#post945369)

Basically what I was told in person, I figured it was accurate but always thought I would check. it's a darn shame though it'd be so nice if they could :P
