So I have a question. That's why I am on the boards :P.

I want to shoot at an enemy Warbeast. The Warbeast is not engaging any of my troops but I have a Cetrati 1.5" behind it. So my Cetrati has engaged the Warbeast though my guy is not engaged. If I shoot at the Warbeast do I get the -4 penalty for firing into melee? I don't even have LOS to my trooper. It just seems odd as this came up in one of my earlier games. I didn't even attack the Warbeast with my Cetrati it just happened to be in his front arc so my oppenent claimed I got a penalty. I suspect if we go by RAW I do it just seems off.

Thanks in advance.

Primal pg 51:

When a model is either engaged or engaging, it is in melee
The warbeast was engaged by your Cetrati, thus it was in melee and when your models make ranged attacks against the warbeast, they will suffer the -4 in melee penalty to the attack roll.

Thanks. That's what I figured, it was just annoying at the time as I hadn't even attacked the stupid warbeast lol, it was just in my front arc and within 2".

Activate the Cetrati first and move him more than 2" away.
