Quick question about intervening terrain in melee. Prime says:

Intervening Terrain (p. 45): A model with any portion of
its volume obscured from its attacker by an obstacle or
an obstruction gains +2 DEF against melee attack rolls.

Given that, which of the following is true?

(the triangle being an obstacle)

The first diagram is correct. If you can draw any line that passes through terrain, you get the bonus.

Yup, just remember that it's not all terrain, only obstructions and obstacles. So forrests and such typically don't count for this.
