If a spell has a range of SELF, does the caster need to be able to target itself to cast the spell?

By extension, would Banishing Ward, cast upon an enemy, prevent them from using spells like Blood of Kings and Energizer?

Banishing Ward is NOT offensive and can not be cast on the enemy. Yes you can target your warcaster with it

Banishing ward can be cast on a friendly model/unit only.

Spells with a RNG of SELF generally do not use the term "target." If the spell does target a model, any model with Banishing Ward is ineligible.

Thanks for clarifying the non-offensive spell part.
