In mk2 explosivo reads really funny. All i see from it though is that it makes a ranged weapon magical for one shot. An already existing aoe becomes aoe 3. It does not make weapons aoe, yet i see a lot of posts talking about it making a weapon aoe. Am i missing something?

Yup, I thought the same thing initially but if you read it, it says if your weapon is AOE - it is AOE 3 so it does make your weapon an AOE if it was not already.

An already existing aoe becomes aoe 3.
If your ranged weapon was AOE 4 or 5 it doesn't become AOE 3 due to Explosivo. It simply gains Magical Weapon.

If the ranged weapon (a Burrower's Slug Gun) had AOE -, then it becomes AOE 3 for its next shot in addition to gaining Magical Weapon.

And the magical weapon part is for the direct hit only.
Any AOE gained is just half the weapon's POW and nothing more.

Example -- Impaler if it hits and crits, only the directly hit target is slammed, but even if the target can only be hurt by magical weapons, it would take a POW 13 slam. If it misses, you have to rely on the POW 2 blast damage. Things that are only hurt by magic ignore the blast because the blast isn't magic.

Explosivo is a messy spell...

Playing Cygnar, Mercs and Trolls, I see this type of thread often. Also of note: you can't boost the blast damage on explosivo.

Because Focus: boost is a special ability of the model, and special abilities cannot be applied to the AoE granted by Explosivo.
