Does Purification dispel the effect of void gate? I did not know the aoe counted as an upkeep effect, rather the upkeep came from keeping it on the table, and there is no target. eVayl trying to dispel a void gate on her Scythean, and I want to know for sure.

Would need to know the exact wording of Void Gate, but if it's an effect that was placed in play (such as a cloud effect or a template placed in control range) and it is an upkeep, then purification should remove it.

Its an offensive spell rather than placed. Says the aoe stays in play as long as the upkeep is paid.

Then yeah, I'm pretty sure Purification would remove it.

Void Gate, from everyone's favorite Mortenebra and co:

While in the AOE, enemy models cannot channel spells, be allocated focus, or be forced. The AOE remains in play as long as its upkeep is paid.

I'm pretty sure that means that the AOE is the essentially the upkeep spell.

It was just out of context, had never thought of an effect as an upkeep target.
